Treatment Modality:
I provide individual therapy for people struggling with a variety of issues (including Eating Disorders, depression, self-esteem issues, anxiety, and relationship problems).  Additionally, I offer consultation for parents, schools, or others who want to learn how to help someone with an Eating Disorder.

I also offer a long-term therapy group for women who are struggling with Eating Disorders or eating-related issues (restricting, overeating/bingeing, purging, or overexercising). This group meets once weekly for an hour and twenty minutes. Group members must commit to at least 3 months of group attendance and must be in individual therapy. This group provides its members with peer support as well as therapy.

Populations Served:
Adolescents and adults

Therapeutic Style:
My general goal is to help my patients gain an understanding of why they are who they are (why they act how they act, why they feel like they do), and then, if they want to change, I help to guide them towards their identified goal.  My approach is collaborative: the patient is the expert on him- or herself, while I provide the expertise on how to create change.  Change might include an increase in self-esteem or self-acceptance, an increased self-understanding, or an elimination of unhealthy behaviors or patterns.

For example, when working with someone who has an Eating Disorder, I take a multi-pronged approach.  We will work towards eliminating unhealthy behaviors, increasing healthy behaviors, and understanding what purpose the Eating Disorder serves for the patient.  We will also work towards an increase in self-acceptance.

Therapeutic Orientation:
Primarily psychodynamic, with cognitive-behavioral and dialectical behavior therapy techniques used as needed.

Fee:
The fee for each 50-minute individual session is $150.
The fee for each 80-minute group session is $50.

The only insurance that I am contracted with is the UCSB insurance (UShip and GShip).  If you have an insurance that provides coverage for out-of-network providers, you would pay me up front and get reimbursed by your insurance company by submitting my bills to them.
